Forehead wrinkles

Peter A. Aldea, MD answers: How do I get rid of forehead wrinkles?

People always say I look angry or worried because I have wrinkles on my forehead. Which wrinkle treatments will get rid of forehead lines?

It depends WHERE the wrinkles are located and HOW DEEP they are.

Forehead wrinkles can be grouped by areas
1. Upper forehead - transverse wrinkles
When the lines are early Botox alone will totally smooth these lines out. If they are established wrinkles, you will need Botox AND a filler such as Restylane or Juvederm.

2. Lower Forehead - transverse wrinkles
When the lines are early Botox alone will totally smooth these lines out. If they are established wrinkles, you will need Botox AND a filler such as Restylane or Juvederm
In older individuals the brows are held up by the Frontalis muscle. If the muscle is weakened with Botox, unlike younger people, the brows can be lowered significantly causing an excessive appearance of upper eyelid skin and a tired appearance

3. Bridge of Nose- between the Brows (Glabella) - 11 lines
Are caused by the Corrugator snarling muscles. Placement of Botox here will smooth these lines in early cases. Once the lines are seen at rest, both Botox and a filler may need to be used to erase them

4. Bridge of nose - transverse Bunny Lines
Are caused by the Procerus snarling muscle. Placement of Botox here will smooth these lines in early cases. Once the lines are seen at rest, both Botox and a filler may need to be used to erase them.
