Browlift vs. Eyelid Surgery

Two procedures that can improve the region around your eyes are browlift and eyelid surgery. The browlift can raise the eyebrow position, and this elevation in the eyebrow will pull the lax skin of your upper eyelid. It does not effect your lower eyelids. The browlift is a total different operation compare to eyelid surgery. It is usually perform behind the hairline in the scalp region. It can be performed with an endoscopic or by an open technique. The scars are nicely hidden. The... more

How to figure out whether you need a brow lift or blepharoplasty (or both)

Brow lift or Eye lift - which one do I need? This is a key decision and one that you should consider carefully before proceeding ahead. The fact is that most people with heavy eyelids have a combination of droopy brows and excess eyelid skin. The important thing is to decide whether it is a brow lift or an upper eye lift that gives you the best cosmetic outcome. A brow lift is different from a blepharoplasty. A blepharoplasty is a procedure which is used to decrease upper eyelid skin or remove lower eyelid skin or bags around the lower eyes. A brow lift does just that - it lifts the eyebrows. In some people, both procedures are needed to obtain optimal results. To determine if you are a candidate for a brow lift, lift your forehead with your hand and place your eyebrows in a natural position. If this causes improvement in your upper eyelids, you may... more

Browlift and Blepharoplasty

As you age, the brow starts to drop and as the brow drops excess skin falls over the upper lid. In most cases, people could use a little brow lift and a little trim of the upper eyelids. In the past, browlifts were bigger procedures and patients objected to the scars and down time and most people opted for just the eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty). However the most natural results happen when you fix multiple areas moderately rather then one area over-aggressively so... more

Browlift is the New Eyelift

One of the most common signs of aging is drooping upper eyelids. Most people automatically assume that there is now too much skin in the upper eyes. However, sometimes the real problem is not excess skin, but the fact that the brow has now relaxed and crowds the eyes. Blepharoplasty (eyelift) surgery removes excess skin from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid reshaping is often requested even by those in their twenties who have the outer corner of the eye situated at a level below... more

Brow Lift or Blepharoplasty?

Both Brow Lift and Blepharoplasty procedures are used to rejuvenate the appearance of your eyes. However, they address different problems which create the appearance of "tired-looking" eyes.Although they can be performed independently of one another, it is quite common for the procedures to be combined during a rejuvenation of the upper part of your face. Blepharoplasty is a procedure designed to remove the excess, loose skin that drapes over your upper (or lower) eyelids.... more

Great Question! Browlift versus Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is used for excess upper eyelid skin. Browlifts are used for  sagging eyebrows or excess forehead skin. A great test to decide which is right for you is to close your eyes for two minutes while standing in front of a mirror. Next gently place your finger on the outer third of your eyebrow, without moving it up or down. Then, open your eyes, if the eyebrow starts to move upward, then you have some eyebrow laxity and a browlift may be necessary. For minor brow... more

Brow and Bleph...Two players on the same team!

Brow lifts elevate the eyebrows at or above the bony prominence of the brow; they also deal with overactive muscles between the brows to diminish the ability to "knit" the brow. Blepharoplasty refers to removal of fat and skin from both the upper and lower lids. In my practice, they are typically discussed in tandem during the consultation process. Chances are if you are over 35-40 you are seeing the effects of aging both in the brow and upper eyelid areas. This is... more

Difference between a brow lift and a blepharoplasty

A brow lift is a effective procedure to reposition and rejuvenate the brow. Its focus is on elevating and smoothing the forehead skin. When this is performed, it is possible to elevate a portion of the upper eyelid skin simultaneously. The brow lifts do not remove any skin from the upper eyelids. Patients who received a brow lift can sometimes avoid a blepharoplasty if all that was necessary was to correct a small amount of excess upper eyelid skin. A blepharoplasty is an effective... more

A browlift raises the eyebrows upward to improve droopy brows, while a blepharoplasty takes away extra eyelid skin

A browlift raises the eyebrows upward to improve droopy brows, while a blepharoplasty takes away extra eyelid skin. When people age, the eyebrows tend to descend and create more tissue in the upper eyelid area. Lifting the eyebrows can move this accumulated tissue away from the upper eyelid. Sometimes removing tissue from the upper eyelid can enhance the total appearance of the eyebrow and upper eyelids. How do you know what to do? Well your surgeon will help you with that. But... more

Best patients for browlift surgery

The upper blepharoplasty is ideal for people with heavy upper eyelid skin that falls over the eyelid. The browlift is ideal for people who want to reshape their brows slightly. You do get an elevation of the brow with the lift and therefore you do get some improvement in the heavy upper eyelid skin but not nearly as much correction as the blepharoplasty can provide. So it really depends on what your face like and what you are trying to achieve.

Brow and blepharoplasty are related but different

They are related in the sense that the assessment of the upper third of the face determines which of these procedures is employed if not both. A blepharoplasty is the technical name we use to describe eyelid surgery (uppers and lowers). A brow lift (also referred to as a forehead lift) accomplishes just that. There are multiple ways to perform each and are beyond the scope of your question. If your issue is just a low brow, but you have no issues with your eyelid skin, then a browlift may... more

Browlift and Blepharoplasty: Upper Third Procedures

Brow lift and Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty are procedures that address aesthetics of the upper third of the face. They are sometimes performed simultaneously and sometimes performed separately. Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty related to removal of excess skin (dermatochalasis) above the upper eyelid crease. Dermatochalasis is typically age related, but can affect some individuals as early as their 30's. The key in Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty is to remove skin but preserve the natural... more

Brow Lift vs. Blepharoplasty

A brow lift will lift the brows' position more superiorly while a blepharoplasty will only address the eyelid skin. It is important to listen to the patient's wishes and properly analyze his/her anatomy. This allows the surgeon and the patient to discuss the best option. If a patient complains of a tired or angry look, or reports their upper visual fields seem less the issue may be a ptotic brow (lower brow position). In this case a brow lift is a good option. If a patient complains of... more

Brow Lift vs. Blepharoplasty

A brow lift surgery addresses the position of the eyebrows due to premature  descent due to age or trauma. A blepharoplasty addresses premature skin laxity resulting from age. Eyelid surgery has a shorter recovery time with improvement of eyelid skin and fat bags.

A browlift and a blepharoplasty are totally different procedures. The only thing they have in common is the shared goal of rejuvinating the uppr lid and brow region. If your brows are low, a browlift can usually be done endoscopically to lift the brows to a conservative level to create a younger, less stern or angry look. If the brows are in reasonable position, and there is extra skin or fat in the upper eyelids, a blepharoplasty can provide a beautiful rejuvination. Upper lid surgery... more

The blepharoplasty operation is done when there is...

The blepharoplasty operation is done when there is excess skin touching the upper eyelashes and the eyebrows are in good position relative to the eyelids and eyelashes. When the brows are very low, a browlift should be considered. A brow-lift is made through a series of incisions in the forehead to raise the eyebrows and soften the scowling complex of the forehead and eyebrows.
