Answer: Report unusual drainage after and abdominoplasty to your surgeon. Drainage around rather than through a drainage tube is not uncommon. Nevertheless this is something that you should report to your surgeon.

Answer: Leakage Congratulations on your surgery. I'm not sure if you had a breast augmentation, breast lift or tummy tuck, but leakage around a drainage tube is fairly common and should stop in another day or two. Please place something absorbent in the area, such as a maxi pad or gauze. Please see your surgeon for a follow up as well.

Answer: Drainage tube incision leaking. What should I do? Always best to run questions/concerns directly by your plastic surgeon who knows your situation best. Having said that, some drainage from around a drain side entrance into the skin is commonly encountered, especially when patients are more mobile. For example, this may occur when a patient gets up to go to the restroom or sits up to eat etc. I would suggest that you apply gauze to the area around the drain to avoid leakage of the fluid onto your legs etc. Also, make sure that the drains are not kinked at any level. Again, best to run questions/concerns directly by your plastic surgeon for the most relevant advice. Best wishes.

Answer: Leakage around the Drainage tube incision. This is not an uncommon circumstance and can be a result of unintentionally moving or twisting the drain when you are moving around. I would most certainly recommend alerting your surgeon, as depending on the area you had surgery this may be more a more concerning finding. Generally speaking, it is usually more a nuisance than an actual problem. In the meantime, apply a dry, clean gauze to the area and change as needed until you speak with your surgeon.
