Heparin Gel on Blood Clot After Tummy Tuck

asked 3 years ago by NBD in Indonesia

Question viewed 2,374 times

I had a Tummy Tuck three weeks ago. I still have a large, very wavy abdomen. No drains were used after surgery. The doctor now says I have a blood clot in my abdomen and was advised to use a Heparin gel to dissolve the clot. Will this work and is it safe? How long will it take for my body to reabsorb the blood clot and fluid? What else can I do to improve healing?

No heparin gel after Tummy Tuck

It appears as though you have a fluid collection (blood or serum) deep to you abdominal flap. The treatment is drainage. I have never heard of heparin gel used for this problem.

You may need to see someone immediately to drain this area

It looks like you have a large fluid collection in your abdomen and this should be drained to avoid a seroma cavity developing.  Don't have any experience with heparin gel and highly doubt that it would help in this situation.
