What is the Healing Process After Upper Eyelid Surgery?

Why does the tissue fluid stay in the eye after blepharoplasty? Why does the body take so long to heal from a minor surgery? is it because the body is building up new tissue to account for the crease (removal of fat)? Does the body heal only during sleep, or while you are awake?

The eyelid skin is very thin.  It is also very vasculator.  These factors, among others, cause significant eyelid swelling after any kind of eyelid surgery.  However, it is temporary, lasting 5-14 days.  In fact, eyelid skin heals better than any other skin type in the body. Dr T.
