What Happens if You Stop Invisalign Early?

This is out of complete curiosity. Nothing to do with refunds or anything like that. If someone was happy with their results mid-treatment and was planning on wearing the retainers, what would happen if they quit?

If you stop invisalign early your treatment wont progress.

Hi Bribri If you were happy with your invisalign mid-treatment and you stopped, your teeth would either stay where they are if you wore a retainer, or possibly revert back if you didnt. Just make sure with your dentst that your bite is good and there are no spaces or other issues that perhaps you cant see yourself. Best! Dr. Alper

Can you stop invisalign mid-treatment.....of course!

Of course you can stop invisalign mid-treatment if you are happy with your smile and how straight your teeth look. Invisalign also corrects bite or occlusion. Make sure you discuss this with your dentist before stopping. Also be sure to continue to wear your retainers so the teeth do not shift back to where they started. I am glad you achieved success so quickly and are happy with your results! Invislaign is such a great way to straighten teeth!

So long as you are happy at the stage that you finished then all you need are retainers to match and you should be OK Dr Raj Kumar BDSLDSRCS

Stopping invisalign early

If you are happy with the result before the end of all the scheduled treatment with invisalign then you can ask you denitst to fabricate retainers and you can hold your teeth in that position. It has happened before in my office. Not a big deal.

Patients CAN decide when treatment is a success

If a person is happy with a case and the case is "not done" according to the plan, there is nothing wrong with stopping and wearing a retainer with the teeth looking as they do when the patient says "when". The teeth will NOT continue getting straighter, but should stay put if a retainer is worn.

Stoping invisalign early

If you're happy and your doctor can't give you a good reason to go for an A when you are happy with a B then you certainly can stop and retain what you got!

Stopping Invisalign Early Might Be OK

Your are in charge of your own treatment. The doctor is there to guide you along the way and recommend what they feel is best for your situation. However, they may be looking for important changes to happen that you may not see. If these movements are critical for your health and stability of the teeth, the doctor would be able to let you know that. Beside being the courteous thing to do, I would definitely run it by them if you wish to stop... more

Stopping orthodontic treatment early

Your teeth relationship or bite will not be corrected and if you do not wear a retainer, teeth can easily shift back even faster than the patient who finished treatment properly.

Stopping invisalign mid-treatment

I don't think its a good idea to stop midtreatment even if you are happy with the esthetics of your teeth, we do look at more than esthetics of the teeth. The aligners also work on your bite or you occlusion which is also important. Its always better to consult your orthodontist, I'm sure he/she plans on detailing your teeth even better with the remaining aligners, which will make you a happier patient at the end.
