What Happens with Extra Flesh After a Midface Reduction?

I wish to have 1.5-2 cm removed from my maxilla/mid face, in order for my face to become more proportionate. I have normal tooth show. What happens to the extra skin in the upper lip area and overall midface when you cut out the underlying bone? It seems like if you took out a chunk of bone, your mouth and lips will fall beneath your teeth. That is something i would really like to avoid...Would you need a lower face lift or a lip lift or something to avoid this? Or am I just entirely wrong?
