Hair removal with laser or electrolysis requires multiple treatments

Multiple treatments are required, unfortunately, to obtain a good result with long term hair reduction when laser is used. Laser hair removal utilizes energies that should not injure the epidermis. Increasing energy does not guarantee permanent loss with one treatment or even a couple, but does increase the risk of complications. Most laser hair removal will require more than seven treatments to provide long term reduction.

Hair Removal in One Treatment Does Not Exist

The cycle of hair growth has three phases: anagen (growth), catagen (resting), and telogen (death of the hair follicle).  Hair removal techniques such as laser and IPL work by targeting the pigment of the hair follicle in the anagen phase.  Most areas of the body only have 30-35% of the hair follicles in the growth phase at one time, necessitating multiple treatments to reduce hair growth.

Hair removal requires several treatments

Because the hair follicles exist in different growth phases, you will never have a treatment that will be a permanent one time deal.  While you kill some hairs, the others are dormant and will come up later.
