At 5 weeks postoperatively, I would expect some swelling to still be present. After the swelling resolves, your surgeon will be able to assess whether the bags are the result of some excess skin remaining, or the result of fat pads around the eye being too prominent. If the cause is excess skin, fractional laser treatment will help this. If the fat protecting your eye is simply to prominent, however, then the only treatment is surgical removal of the fat.I would recommend following with your surgeon closely to develop a plan.
