Doctor first put ear cart. and 1 small piece of gore-tex in my tip, and as little bump was shown he put another small piece of gore-tex in short period. It was red, painfull and swollen, and he gave me antibiotics. After I started to take antibiotics, pain immediately stoped and swelling has gone down, but redness did't..Is it possible that redness is because of my multiple touching the same part of the nose? Will I have to take it out or there is the chance that redness go away with time?

Probable gore-tex infection

Although I have not examined you, it sounds like you may have a chronic infection of the goretex graft.  My concern is for infection of the other piece of goretex and the cartilage graft, which may cause it to be re-absorbed.  In all likelihood you will need to have the graft removed, allow it to heal and go from there. Good luck

Infected Gortex

Hi, It sounds like you have a chronic infection of the gortex graft. Although it may get better with antibiotics for a short time, it will never completely heal. The entire gortex graft should come out along with antibiotics. Once it heals you can consider replacing the graft. It may take 4 to 6 months. Best, Dr.S.
