Dental Crown: Q&A

Ask a Question

Gold Crowns Vs Zirconium Crowns for Front Tooth Implant?

I am having implants for my upper middle tooth and crown on the adjacent teeth. What are the pros and cons of having porcelain gold crowns vs zirconium crowns?

Zirconium vs. gold

W can achieve superior esthetics with all porcelain restrations. If you use Emax porcelain I live that even better than zirconia crowns. The abutment on the implant should be zirconia. But the crowns should be emax. Gold is functional, and biocompatible, but consensus in the highest circles is that it is no longer ideal given the all-porcelain options.
