48 hours ago I had 8-12 (not sure) units of Botox in upper forehead. Had about 15 units in 11 line & lower forehead a month prior. Looked great. Lots of movement still. Thought waiting to do upper would be a good idea. But now my forehead feels heavy & my eyelids are a bit swollen already. Worried since it's only 48 hours post. Is that a conservative amount for upper forehead? I have eye swelling issues, generally (dry eye syndrome). Does that make a difference? My doc is incredibly experienced.
Answer: Botox and Dosing Botox will not effect your eye issues, if injected properly by someone experienced. Most often I am using 10-20 units in the forehead, however, what was said below is correct. It varies depending on the effect you are trying to get and whether or not you are trying to change the eye brow shape/brow shaping. The number isnt as important as the location and whos doing the injections. I am sure if he/she is experienced you will get a great result, and if you are concerned, return to them. I wish you the best, Dr. Emer.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Botox and heavy forehead If you are a patient who is dependent on the forehead to raise your eyebrows, then after paralyzing the muscle, you can experience heaviness. This can give you the illusion that your eyelids are swollen but in reality you are just seeing the skin over the lids. You should speak to your plastic surgeon about it as you may be a surgical candidate.

Answer: Amount of Botox for Forehead Hi Tesssa. It's difficult to answer your questions without seeing a picture or an in-person evaluation. Each person varies in the amount of Botox they require for certain areas. I usually use an average of 10 units for the forehead, but that being said, there are some patients who will require less and some who will require more. I have given up to 20 units for some patients who have very deep wrinkles and strong forehead muscles. If your forehead feels heavy then you have likely received more than enough Botox for the area. You should follow up with your doctor and voice your concerns so that he can appropriately evaluate you. Good luck!

Answer: Botox for Forehead I would find 8-12 units to forehead to be about average, and for the 11's 15 units would seem to be a just a bit low in my experience as most of my patients need a minimum of about 8 units for the 11s alone and most getting around 16-20 units or more depending on many issues (e.g., strength of their brow frowing muscles and skin thickness). Some patients are exquisitely sensitive to botox in their brow areas and can unfortunately experience brow ptosis from even small amounts. This has happened to me personally from a very experienced injector. Further, botox placed too low around the brows can sometimes lead to blepharoptosis (drooping of the eyelid margin). Most patients at 48 hours still have quite a bit of movement as it can take 2-3 weeks to get to maximal effect. I never try to completely immobilize the forehead as I don't think it looks normal and carries high risk for causing brow ptosis. I hope this is helpful. Each patient is unique and different and "cookie-cutter" approaches to botox use is fraught with potential under or over treatment issues.

Answer: Botox for forehead This is an average amount of Botox for the forehead region. The heaviness may be from injections too close too eybrow or diffusion of product towards the Brow.
