Ghosting 8 Years After Lasik, What Can I do?

Hi, I had lasik 8 years ago. I have always had problematic night vision and starbursts with all lights during the day but have coped with this. Now however I have started experiencing double vision (ghosting) in both eyes. I am finding it quite traumatic and now have depression. My optometrist made me feel like an idiot for having surgery. I saw surgeon has said I just need to live with it - it is due to a recent small change in my vision. I would appreciate any suggestions.
