I've been reading that if providers do not use enough gel when treating patients with ipl, this can increase etchmark scarring. What does this gel do? Do providers disclose etchmark scarring from ipl is a risk?
Chances of Increased IPL Scarring if Not Enough Gel is Used?

The gel helps deliver the light evenly on the skin and, as well, provides a smooth glide when moving the handpiece. It assists with cooling the skin as well. Burns or "etchmarks" can occour whether you use gel or not. Yes, gel will help in preventing etchmarks but don't think that just because you have gel on, you can't get burned. It is always important to know all the risks of any procedure before having any treatment. Discuss all your concerns with your physician.
