Middle Eastern Nose Job -full Rhinoplasty or Just a Tip Rhinoplasty?

I'm consulting with a rhinoplasty surgeon soon and I've done some research but I still don't know what I want. I'm middle eastern so I have a big nose. My tip is wide and my nostrils are large. I think I'll need tip reduction, weir excisions and nasal sill exicisions (a tip rhinoplasty). My profile is straight with no bumps I would love a curved profile. Will dorsal rasping be able to achieve this? Should I take the extra risk of an invasive bone procedure and have a full rhinoplasty? THANK YOU

Rhinoplasty vs Tip-plasty

If  you want to change more than the tip, do so, as long as you and your surgeon feel this will provide a propotional and aesthetically pleasing result. There is little additional risk if you decide to change the nasal profile.

There are many differences between a full rhinoplasty and a tip rhinoplasty

A full rhinoplasty includes all aspects of shaping and contouring the nose to achieve your aesthetic goals.  This can include the following things: 1.  Rasping of the dorsal hump (bridge) of the nose to make it curved. 2.  Infracturing or breaking the bones beside the nose to make the width of the nose more narrow. 3.  Placing cartilage grafts on the dorsum of the nose to improve the shape. 4.  Reshaping the tip of the nose with cartilage grafts... more

Tip-plasty or rhinoplasty

Without a full set of pictures, it is impossible to tell what the issues are regarding your nose. Certainly the tip can be made narrower and alarplasty can narrow the nostrils. There are many different tip reduction techniques that can be performed. Determining which technique is best for your nose depends on what the existing cartilage structure. Your curved profile in the second picture is not an ethnic looking nose and would not look appropriate on a Middle Eastern face. It sounds as... more

Rhinoplasty, Nose reduction

It really depends on what bothers you. If it is only the way your nose tip looks, then you could have just a tip rhinoplasty but if it the height of your nose and a bump, then you could benefit from a "full" rhinoplasty.

A curved profile requires nasal rasping at a minimum

If you're interested in a slight curve to the dorsum of your nose, then rasping will accomplish this in addition to being a tip work that you describe. If your nasal bones are too wide, thenyou would need to have the nasal bones narrowed. This is accomplished by using a chisel like device called an osteotome to separate the cheekbone (maxilla)from the nasal bones.Consult with your plastic surgeon as to what your goals are and how he plans to accomplish this

Full versus Partial Rhinoplasty

The answer here is quite simple: -If you truly want a curved profile, then you should have your profile reduced. -If you need the tip volume reduced, then you should have a tip-plasty. The only way to slightly curve the profile without reducing the height is to add height to the tip (increase tip projection). While that is sometimes the goal of the surgery, the limited photos you submitted dont support the need for increased tip projection. I personally like your profile... more

Rhinoplasty Decisions: Listen to Your Surgeon

It is almost impossible for an adequate assessment to be made about the scope of your Rhinoplasty surgery without an examination in person.  I would advise the following: 1) Find a reputable, well trained Rhinoplasty surgeon, board certified by the ABFPRS or APRS, 2) If you are not comfortable with that particular Surgeon, get a few more opinions, 3) Listen to the advice of a Surgeon you trust, and don't insist on a particular game plan in the face of advice to the contrary, 4)... more

Rhinoplasty goals

To have a slightly retrousse nose or a curve can be accomplished with dorsal shave to lower the bony profile and also to raise the tip sometimes.  It would be difficult to say without a formal exam.

Rhinoplasty (nose job) to achieve curve profile (ski jump or scoop) in middle eastern nose!

There are many ways to achieve a curve. One is to lower the hump (bridge) and the other is to raise the tip and/or both. You could potentially undergo a conservative rasping if you don't want your bridge narrowed from the frontal view. The small open roof, if it occured, would likely be camouflaged by your presumably thicker middle eastern skin. With a tip graft, you could potentially achieve s facsimile of your desired result without an osteotomy (bone cut or fracture) more

Rhinoplasty Surgery may be used to narrow your tip and lower your bridge.

You should consult with several board-certified, experienced Rhinoplasty Surgeons and be sure to view many favorable photos. Computer imaging will be helpful for you to get a good idea of what to expect after your surgery. There is more bruising with osteotomies, but in good hands, there is no significant additional risk in having bony work performed. My feeling is you should let your surgeon know what you'd like to achieve. Computer imaging will help you and your surgeon ensure... more

Full rhinoplasty versus tip rhinoplasty

Given what your goals are, you will need to have some modification of your nasal dorsum, which means more than just a tip rhinoplasty.  But what I would suggest is to discuss with your surgeon the look you want and allow him to do what needs to be done during the procedure to get these results-- this I think means opting for a full rhinoplasty in your case.

Tip Rhinoplasty VS Full Rhinoplasty

If your goal is to have a scooped, "ski jump" narrow nose then you should opt for a full rhinoplasty by s surgeons who likes to produce that kind of nose. I would advise you to go about it a little differently. Rather than telling the surgeon the procedure you want, why don't you ask him for the best look or feature you seek and see what each surgeon produces. It is rather easy to produce a "1970's" classic nose. Most of us moved on and have greatly improved on... more

Tip rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is like a puzzle.  There are over 150 different types of maneuvers, grafts, sutures, and techniques to change the shape of the nose.  If you change one aspect of the nose such as the tip or the dorsum, you will likely need to change other areas of the nose to assure that the nose is proportionate as a whole.  Just like a puzzle.  If you change the shape of one piece, you may have to change the shape of many pieces.  I would recommend a full rhinoplasty... more

Rhinoplasty

It is likely best for you to have a full rhinoplasty.  If you are looking for a curved profile, then you would need to have a full rhinoplasty to achieve this result.  Good luck.
