If Fraxel coagulates the epidermal and dermal tissue, then what happens to the veins and lymph system? Do they die, reattach or form angiogenesis (veins, of course)? If the latter, will they resolve on their own? Thanks!!

Fraxel Restore

The fractional treatment of Restore does not vaporize everything in its path so that the telangiectases (capillaries) which are superficial and often unnecessary, have a widespread collateral system that feeds it and clinically we don't see reduction of the capillaries after Fraxel usually. The laser is not injurious to the depth of the lypmphatic trunks, nor do we see edematous long term side effects.

Fraxel Effect on Blood Vessels of the Skin

Hi, Very good question!  The blood vessels that are affected by Fraxel are very superficial capillaries.  The larger arteries, veins, and lymph vessels are deeper and are not affected.  The fractionated nature of the laser preserves the blood supply to the skin.  Good luck and be well. Dr. P
