Fraxel re:pair and Retin-A

Hi Q, Absolutely not.  If your skin is peeling from anything then Fraxel re:pair should be postponed.  We recommend that our patients stop Retin-A for 10 to 14 days before having re:pair treatment.  Be well.   Dr. P

Retin A helps Fraxel work better, but it is best not to use just before

Retinoids that your dermatologist prescribes before lasers and peels definitely make the cosmetic procedure achieve a more dramatic result. For best results, use the retinoid for at least 2 weeks, then discontinue for 4-7 days prior to treatment. Retinoids stimulate healing after these procedures, decrease pigmentation, and encourage new collagen formation. Remember to use adequate SPF and antioxidants to protect from sun exposure and to prevent further damage to the collagen in your skin.... more

Wait one week

While the procedure could probably be done safely now, stop the retin a and wait at least one week. Obviously it would be best to discuss this with your doctor before making any decisions to proceed. Take care, Dr. Groff

If still peeling from Retin-A, a Fraxel Repair treatment should not be done

A Fraxel Repair treatment should not be done if still peeling from Retin-A. Retin-A should be discontinued about a week before having any Fraxel treatment.
