Fraxel Repair After Retin-A?

How long do I have to wait to be off Retin-A to get a Fraxel Repair done? After being pretty clear of acne after a course of Accutane about two years ago I broke out with a few inflammed cysts on my lower face.

I started using Retin-A to try to clear the cysts. I also did a Glycolic home peel. I have about three cysts left.I am also using mederma. Would it greatly increase my chances of scarring if I did the Fraxel Repair now? I want to do something for my scars soon now that I have time off work and take Accutane as soon as possible.

Fraxel repair After Retin-A

Hi Yesenia, You should wait about one week to 10 days after stopping Retin-A before having Fraxel repair. Many patients who have had Fraxel repair subsequently have much less active breakouts, some do not have further active breakouts. Stop all exfoliative treatments and products for at least one week before your treatment. Good luck and enjoy your new skin! Dr. P Los Angeles, Calif.
