Do Fraxel Lasers Help Treat Hypopigmentation or De-pigmentation?

Doctor Answers 1

Fraxel does not improve hypo- or depigmentation

Unfortunately, neither the Fraxel re:pair nor the Fraxel re:store will improve hypo- or depigmentation (too little or no pigment in the skin).  These conditions can be caused by an number of conditions and should be evaluated and treated by a dermatologist.  The Excimer laser may lead to improvement for some patients with vitiligo, a condition when the pigment-producing cells in the skin are lost.  The Fraxel lasers primarily treat excessive discoloration, including freckles, sun spots, and melasma.
