What is Best for Treating Mild-moderate Acne? Benzoyl Peroxide or Retnin A (Tretinoin)

Hi. I am in my early 30s and have had a break-out of mild to moderate acne (including whiteheads and papules). This has occurred in the last year. It is primarily on my right cheek and forehead. I have spoken to my Dr and tried some topical antibiotics that have not worked. I have been suggested Retnin A. Have done some research and realised that I have not tried benzoyl peroxide. If given the choice, what would you recommend? Does benzoyl peroxide actually age your skin?
