I got injured and for the past few months I've had a blocked right nostril, but it seems to be gradually getting better every few months. Doctor said my cartilage was bent/deformed, but not broken. From every study I read it says "cartilage is flexible, has memory, and goes back to its original position over time"....please tell me is there any hope my septum will get straight again or do I have to undergo painful surgery? (this annoying partial right nostril blockage every day is killing me)

Answer: Deviated septum's don't resolve on their own
I typically dissect the pocket for the graft to precisely fit and stabilize the graft, sometimes adding sutures to further stabilize it. If it remains out of position, there are several options for revision. An exam and discussion with a surgeon would be necessary to decide specifics.
In general, I tell my patients it is good to refrain from sports which
require exertion for 6-8 weeks since this can increase the swelling in the nose
however you should always check with your surgeon for specific guidelines.
