Is it Possible for TT Sutures to Ripping Apart 11 Years Post-Op?

I had my TT in Dec. 2000. Six months later emergency surgery, scar adhesion connected to my bowel and ruptured. That happened a second time Five months later. So all done and healed up from it all by March 2002. I have been fine since. Now since October 2011. I have the sensation of pulling and ripping in all my muscles in abdominal. I had a CT scan 2 weeks ago, waiting for results from the general Doc. They did not see bowel problems. Could TT sutures be falling apart?

Pain in abdomen 11 years after tummy tuck but also nearly a decade after intra-abdominal problems

Given your scenario, your symptoms are not directly related to your tummy tuck. Instead, what you may be experiencing are adhesions and scar tissue related to your intra-abdominal problems. Furthermore, when your surgeons treated you, they may have left you with some disruption of the initial muscle repair.

Issues with tummy tuck years after emergency surgery

One of the more important aspects of any standard tummy tuck, is the plication or tightening of the fascia which covers the abdominal muscles. Most board certified plastic surgeons prefer to use permanent sutures for this part of the procedure. Your case is quite complicated in that you've apparently had multiple abdominal procedures since your tummy tuck. Assuming your subsequent procedures were open in nature, it is even possible that your plication sutures were cut... more

Tummy Tuck Plication Sutures?

Thank you for the question. It would be highly unlikely that you would be having problems with the muscle plication sutures. It would be more likely that what you are experiencing is related to the previous bowel surgery (and scar tissue). Best wishes.

Sutures Not Likely to be Falling Apart 10 Years after Tummy Tuck

After 10 years, it is very unlikely that the sensation you felt was from any sutures from your tummy tuck 10 years ago. You may want to get examined by you doctor to see if a hernia could have developed.

Pains 11 years after tummy tuck

Your tummy tuck was so long ago, and your medical history has been complicated by two bowel obstructions and surgery since. It is very unlikely that your abdominal pains are related to the tummy tuck, but rather to your subsequent bowel surgery. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd.com

Scar adhesions

I believe that you are describing secondary scar adhesions. Your abdominoplasty sutures would have dissolved many years ago. It's unfortunate that your emergency surgery affected the outcome and has caused his degree of pain. Wishing you good luck in resolving the situation. Dr. K

Tummy Tuck Sutures Ripping Appart Eleve Years Post -Op

The problem you are encoutering is related to the scar adhsions that occured after your emergency surgery for a ruptured bowel. The tummy tuck sutures were most probably cut during this operation and have not been intact for the past eleven years. The pulling you are experiencing is probably due to more adhesions. Good luck to you.
