Amount of fat that can be removed in liposuction
The liposuction task force recommendations for the amount of liposuction on an outpatient basis is 5,000 cc. Otherwise in hospital monitoring is necessary.
With local anesthetic alone, the amount of lidocaine necessary to do the procedure often limits the amount of fat that can be safely removed.
