I had fat grafting to my face on Feb24, 2014, by now it has almost been 2 month. I was happy with the look after all the swelling gone down but looking into the mirror now, I feel most of the fat didn't seem to stay well. I lost the fullness of the forehead which is the most important to me. it makes me wonder does this say basically the transfer is not working or, it will come back after 3 months of time?
Answer: Fat grafting Fat Grafting can be an unpredictable procedure at times. To ensure the highest amount of fat take, care must be taken in the preparation and transfer of the fat. At two months postop, the amount of fat that is retained is likely to be a final result. I would discuss with your plastic surgeon your concerns. Furthermore I would encourage comparison of preoperative and postoperative photography. Sometimes patients become accustomed to their new look and forget what they looked like just prior to surgery. Other times the fat may indeed have been reabsorbed and little is left. Without before-and-after pictures, it is difficult to render a professional opinion here. One thing is certain, the fat will not return in three months. If you gain weight, you'll see a proportional increasingly your face however I don't think this is what you are asking. you may require additional fat grafting to achieve the look that you are hoping for. Again I would discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Best wishes, Dr. K.

Answer: #cosmeticsurgery , #microfatgrafting , #fillers Dear WBDGAOThank you for your question!Micro fat grafting is very technique specific . There can be volume loss- mostly in the first 2 months after surgery. Unless you gain weight - the fat will not grow again. Additional fat grafting is sometimes needed to achieve the best result- and the earliest would be at 2 months after surgery. With Warm Regards,Trevor M Born MD

Answer: Loss of Facial Fat Grafting The unknown variable in any fat grafting procedure is the amount of retention. By two months after surgery, you will have a good idea of how much fat has taken. There will be no regrowth or increase in fat volume later unless you gain a lot of weight. Certain facial areas take better than others and the forehead is one area of the face that has one of poorest retention rates.

Answer: Fat Grafting Fat grafting is technique dependent. We know some of the fat will absorb and results in loss of volume. That is why we should tell patients who want fat grafting that it may take more than one session to achieve the results needed. Young people seems to retain more of the injected fat. How fat is prepared and injected also matters in fat staying and taking.Samir Shureih MD. FACS.sshureih@msn.com
