Is It Possible to Fall and Break Your Nose on the Edge of the Steps?
A women extremely intoxicated, tried to run up the stairs, slipped on the hard wood floors below the stairs, and hit her nose on about the third or fourth step. She had a long and fairly big nose. Is it possible, without any other force driving her nose into the steps, to break by hitting the edge of the step?

A nose can break from many things
Yes, a nose can break and have damage from many different types of injuries, especially falling on the stairs.

Breaking a Nose
A nose can be broken by MANY mechanisms which deliver a sudden compressive force to the nasal bones.
A fist, a baseball bat, a kick or falling on a step (as you describe) often suffice to brake these bones.
