Preoperative facelift incisions shown at the pre op visit.
We show the preoperative facelift incisions at the pre op visit. The same incisions are again marked on the patient and shown to the patient the day of surgery. Make sure you see an experienced facelift, etc. surgeon who does natural work.

Facelift scars
If you are confused about the location of incisions, it is not a bad idea to have the surgeon mark on you during a preoperative visit exactly where the scars are, so it will not be a surprise to you after the surgery.
Every surgeon puts the incisions in slightly different places. How could anybody on this panel know what incisions your surgeon intends?
Look at before and after pictures of patients who have had the procedures you intend to have and carefully look in the areas of...

Facial scar planning
Hi Cerro Gordo. Many surgeons share similar techniques for incision placement for the procedures you note. However, there is significant variability. A description here of standard scar placement will not serve you well and may misguide you. Your understanding and acceptance of where your scars will be placed is an important part of your decision to undergo any given procedure. A discussion about scar placement is an integral part of your consultation, and should be done in person with your...

Scarring after Multiple Procedures
The scars from the best facelift work are along the edge of the ear, not in front or behind the tragus, in the crease behind the back of the ear and then straight across into the hair. Blepharoplasty scars are in the natural crease above the eye and just below the eyelashes on the lower lids. The incision for the subnasal lip lift is just below at the border of the nostrils. I always mark the patient awake and give them the opportunity to see where all the incisions will be post-op.

Facelift, eyelid and lip lift incision lines
There is a bit of variability in exactly where the scars are placed for these procedures. It is very important that you're clear on where the incisions will be placed prior to your surgery day as this is an important part of the informed consent process.
I usually outline the area where they'll be placed on a patient's face as they look in a mirror. Probably equally important is to see how that surgeons other surgery patients' scar heal. Looking at before and after...

Facelift, Blepharoplasty, and subnasal lift scars
Facelift scars are usually hidden next to the hairline, at the junciton of the ear and face, and behind the ear and hairline. Blepharoplasty scars are usually in the eyelid crease, so it is hidden well. The subnasal lift is usually under the nose and hidden between the junction of the nose and lip. Your surgeon can show you where these incisions are located and really should do this before the procedure. You can go on my website to see this as well. Let me know if you would...

Will surgeon show me where the scars will be ?
Part of my consultation with patients is to make absolutely sure that they are aware of where incisions will be placed for various procedures. It is crucial that you are informed where the scars will end up so there are no surprises after surgery. You may decide that the surgery is not worth the trade-off for the scars. Once you have a scar, you will always have it. There are no scar erasers. I do not necessarily draw on patients to show them where the scars...

Where Will The Scars Be For A Facelift, Blepharoplasty & Subnasal Lip Lift?
During your consultation, the scar placements should be discussed with you . Before and after photos that shows the scars will help you see exactly how well the scars have healed after 1 year or so.

Scar placement should be shown during face lift consultation
The placement of your scars should be part of what's discussed during your consultation for a Face Lift, Eyelid Surgery, Breast Implant or any other plastic and cosmetic surgery procedure. During a consultation, I want my patients to be knowledgeable about all apsects of their plastic surgery procedure and be involved in the decision making process so that when it comes to the day of surgery, they can relax and let me do all the work.

The marking is done before surgery while patient is in upright position
The marking for the face lift and eyelid surgery is done in up right position. The position and length of the scar is discussed before surgery, but may need modification during the surgery.

Scars for Facial Rejuvenation
Scars for all these procedures vary from surgeon to surgeon. For instance, many Plastic Surgeons are now using a short scar facelift technique, like the MACS Lift. This procedure will have a shorter scar and the most anterior part will be significantly different from a SMAS type Facelift scar. Your surgeon should discuss the scars with you in the consultation process.

This is a great question to ask your surgeon.
Placing incisions to hide the scars is a major aspect of designing a facial plastic surgery. Your surgeon should discuss this type of detail with you so you are not surprised after surgery. A well prepared surgeon will have post surgical photos to show you of their patients and will be able to use these to illustrate how the incisions heal.

Scars after Facelift should be hidden well
I do show ALL of my patients where the incisions are going to be placed. The Blepharoplasty scar traditionally is the one considered to be the least visible. Face lift scars are an art form and your surgeons technique WILL matter. Have him or her draw them on you and be sure you are o.k. with them because once they are done, you own them forever. Try to have them shown to you in your consultation because waiting until you get to pre -op is too late in my opinion.

Facelift scars, blepharoplasty scars, and subnasal scars following surgery
Hi,
Typically, the scars from a facelift are "hidden" in the crease lines in front of the ear. From there, the scar may go upward at the junction of the forehead with the scalp or back further, into the scalp. Below the earlobe, the scar may go back behind the ear and even into the scalp. It really depends on how much skin needs to be removed and the preference of the surgeon.
The blepharoplasty scar in the upper lid is usually less than one-half inch...

Face Lift
This should be discussed in the pre-op visit with your surgeon. If they are not willing to discuss this with you, I would consider this the raising of a red flag. Be cautious of surgeons who will not tell you where the incision is going to be. This is part of the information you need to be informed about the procedure. Ask this information be disclosed; you deserve to know.

Facelift - Scars Be For A Facelift, Blepharoplasty & Subnasal Lip Lift?
You should by all means discuss this with your PS and, if you'd like, have him or her show you or even draw right on you where the incisions will be. There are many choices and variations for each of these and, as always, no absolute or correct answers (or else there wouldn't be choices) so you can incorporate that into your discussions with the surgeon. You may have preferences for one way or another but you should also ask your surgeon why he or she prefers whatever is...

Facial Scarring Post-Surgery

Yes he will show you during the consultation and preoperatively
Yes all incision sites will be shown at the time of consultation and in the preoperative areas. I only use extremely well hidden incisions to make the scars inconspicuous as this is the most important issue for most patients

Facelift and eyelid surgery scars
The scars for facelift are placed in front and behind the ear. In front of the ear the scar is broken up slightly curving inside the ear (tragus), so it does not look like a stright line thus making it less visible. If it is a mini facelift, these are the only scars. If it is full facelift, scars are in the hair line but with no hair loss and in the neck..
The scars for upper eyelid surgery are well hidden in the eye lid crease and for the lower lids the scar is just...

Scars for multiple facial procedures.
Short Answer (please note there will be variability to this based on surgeon preference and experience):
Facelift: in front of the top of the ear, behind the tragus, in front of the bottom of the ear, around the lobe and up behind the ear
Blepharoplasty: upper - within the upper eyelid crease; lower - either under the eyelashes, or inside the eyelid depending on whether or not skin needs to be removed
Subnasal Lip Lift: just like it sounds... below the nose.

Scars after facelift surgery
The scarring after facelift surgery are typically is around the ears, with a small incision under the chin. If the skin is approximated properly after the lifting portion of the procedures, the scars should be unnoticable.

Where Will The Scars Be For A Facelift, Blepharoplasty & Subnasal Lip Lift?
Most of the experts agree that in person discussion is the time to "learn" on the placement of your incisions by your chosen surgeon. Best of luck.

Facelift scar will depend on the surgeon
Though there are typical incisions used in both blepharoplasty and in facelift procedures there is enough variation between surgeons that the issue should be discussed clearly before your procedure. It is best to never assume, so ask your surgeon about the plan well ahead.
Best of luck,

Surgical scars
If tour surgeon has done enough cases , he doesn't need to mark before surgery. On the other hand the incision lines nee to be carefully discussed at the first visit. Scars are a necessary evil but, must be wll placed to allow you to hide them.

Incisions from facelifts differ with each surgeon
Rather than asking on line, this is only best asked of your chosen surgeon and they will be happy to show you exactly where they plan to make the incisions. Since all surgeons differ, their's is the answer you want to avoid any confusion.

Scars with facelift
We usually do mark patients while you are awake and sitting up. Most facelift scars and bleph scars heal very nicely and are placed in areas that do not show with time. I have always been a little bit nervous about lip lifts at the alar base. I hear mixed reviews from other surgeons as I am sure you will when you get more posts. You should ask your surgeon for photos of previous ones that he/she has done so that you can see what the scar looks like. Good luck!
