Typical face washes have one of the following active ingredients: benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or glycolic acid. Topical retinoids are not found in face washes. Retin A is a a prescription gel or cream that is applied nightly to the face and is usually used in conjuntion with a face wash regimen.
