Mini Lift: Q&A

Face Lift Postoperative Complications?

I had a Mini face lift & a chin implant replacement 6 weeks ago. 4 weeks after I had additional surgery because the implant shifted, that surgery was done intra orally. About 10 days later I developed swelling and redness and I was put on antibiotics and the next day I woke up with a large abcess under my chin and my surgeron drained it and left an open incision for draining. I still have swelling, numbness & pain and my ears are very sensitive. Is that normal? Should I get a second opinion?

Facelift and Chin Implant Postoperative Complications

Even the best surgeons cannot mitigate against infection and things of that nature. They will and do happen. The steps outlined in the synopsis reveal appropriate management. I think whenever a patient is frustrated getting a second opinion can be helpful to allay fears and concerns. However, do not let someone else convince you that you need another operation right away. An infected implant may occur... more

What to Do About an Infection After a Facelift and Chin Implant

While it sounds like it has been a difficult several weeks, it does sounds like your surgeon did all the right things. The risk of infection does go up whenever you have 2 procedures in a short amount of time. As to whether or not you should get a second opinion, it depends on how comfortable you are with the explanation you are getting from your surgeon. Again, occasionally things happen after surgery. The key is finding a surgeon who knows how to handle these issues. It sounds like your... more

Hello

Sounds like you had a reaction to the implant. Your PS is following the correct steps to help you recover. I would keep a close eye on your incision and take your antibiotic as prescribed. Seeing another PS can help you to get the answers you’re looking for if you feel that would help your mind. It’s hard to say why it’s happening everyone reacts and heals different.
