Face Hair Removal?

Hello I have medium skin color which gets darker in the summer. I have hairs all over my face but they are thin and not too dark.I've had 10 laser sessions for my upper lip+haven't experienced skin damages or discoloration.I'm thinking of having my whole face hairs removed with alexandrite laser+I want to ask you:Is it suitable for darker skin or will it leave me with discolorations?is it possible that since I'm not fair that my hairs will start growing darker and multiple? What should I ask them?

Face Hair Removal?

Thank you for your question. People with dark hairs and fair skin respond best to the aleandrite laser. Those of skin of color, tan skin, or medium skin tones will require another laser for safest results. The most important thing you can do is to be seen and have your treatments done under the supervision of a Board Certified Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon for best results and safest treatments. I hope this helps!

Laser hair Removal Safety

Hair removal laser for darker skins

Ask them to do a test treatment! The alexandrite laser (722 nm wavelength) is best for lighter skins. But if it worked for your lip it is reasonable to try it elsewhere on your face. Usually the best hair removal laser for your skin is the ND:Yag 1064. Laser hair removal needs dark hair to absorb the laser light. If your face hair is very light, no laser is likely to work. Skin discoloration can be from too strong a setting, using cooling spray... more

Gentlelase for medium skin types

The Gentlelase is really more appropriate for lighter skin types. The risk with darker skin type is something called paradoxical hair growth. This occurs when too low settings are used to avoid damage to the skin's surface in darker skin types causing stimulation of the hair follicles, and thus hair growth. While it is challenging to treat fine hair in darker skin types with more appropriate lasers like the Nd:yag and diodes, these are definitely safer options for you... more

Thank you so much for answering!I went there today and asked them about my case and they said that it is an average situation and that my hairs are already stimulated and they wouldn't agree to do laser to me if I didn't fit the candidate profile. They also offered to do a trial in 2 different spots of my face and 2 different energy settings and see after 7-10 days the result and I did it. But after your answer I got skeptical and I wanted to ask you if you suggest any other method of hair removal on the face, other than laser.
