I'm thinking about having eyelid surgery to look younger. What is involved in the procedure? How does eyelid surgery rejuvenate the look of the eyes? How long does the surgery take?

Eyelid surgery information
The primary goal of an upper blepharoplasty is to remove excess skin and a little bit of fat that creates puffiness on the upper lids. The primary goal for lower blepharoplasty is to remove the fat bags from the lower lids through transconjunctival approach. If excess skin is present a small amount of skin is “pinched” from the lower lids at the lash line. A blepharoplasty takes approximately one hour to perform and is done under a general anesthesia. It should be done in a certified ambulatory surgery center with anesthesia administered by a board-certified physician anesthesiologist.
Eyelid surgery is a great way to rejuvenate the periorbital region of the face. This surgery usually takes less than 2 hours to perform. The recovery period is abot a week with some residual bruising perhaps lasting up to 2 weeks.
Eyelid Lift or Blepharoplasty treats sagging skin and drooping fat bags
Eyelid surgery involves removing excess skin of the upper and lower eyelids, and removing excessive fat bags and sometimes redistributing fat bags. In the upper eyelid the incision is in the natural eyelid crease. In the lower eyelid this can be performed with an incision under the eyelashes about 1 mm away or through the inside of the eyelid called a transconjunctival blepharoplasty.

Eyelid surgery will help rejuvenate the periorbital areas. What it involves is removing some skin and also some pockets of fat to help make the areas look younger and healthier.
There is upper eyelid surgery and lower eyelid surgery. Commonly in patients who are seeking upper eyelid surgery they most often also need a browlift to help position the eyebrows to an more aesthetically desired location.

Blepharoplasty or Eyelid Surgery for Rejuvenation
Eyelid surgery will make you look years younger. The procedure depends on your anatomy. Most of the time the surgery can be performed in the surgeon's office under local anesthesia. In complex cases, the surgery is perfomed under general anesthesia in an operating room. The time varies depending upon the surgeon and the complexity of the case, usually between one to two hours. It rejuvenates the eyes by removing excess skin (and fat, or repositioning fat in selected cases) and creating a upper lid crease, and a smooth lower lid. The stitches are in place for 4 to 5 days, and most swelling and bruising are gone by two weeks.
Choose your eyelid surgeon most carefully.
Good luck and be well.
