Can Eye Twitching Cause Eye Muscle Damage?

The skin under my left eye occasionally moves and twitches, particularly when I look at it in the mirror. I have some excess fat there, a puff of fat, and sometimes I see it moving and twitching. One time I was looking at myself in the mirror with my head up, really openned my eyes and saw it twitch as if the puff actually rose then went back down. Can this twitching cause the fat to protude further out? It seems my puff has gotten a little worse, but am not completely sure.

Eye twitching is very common and not dangerous

Eye twitching is very common and not dangerous. When the eye muscle twitches, it causes the area to look like there’s less fat because the fat is pressed back. Often lubricating drops can be useful as well as reducing stress and caffeine. Also, BOTOX is approved for spasms around the eye in significant cases.

Eye twitching and fat bags

It is common to get twitching on the lids on occassion. It is usually due to lack of sleep, stress, or too much caffeine. It usually passes on its own. It does not affect the muscle or fat bagsand should not cause this to worsen. If it does not go away it can be treated with Botox or Dysport.
