Hollowness, Droopy Eyelids and Dark Circles - Related to Sleep?

I've a problem with genetic hollowness in my lower (shows as prominent dark circles) and upper eyelids. This causes an irregular droop in my upper eyelids. I'm in my late teens. I notice that on weekends (when I get enough sleep) my upper eyelids become fuller in volume and my dark circles become much less prominent. Through the day however, my upper eyelids become tired and collapse, and darkness expands around my eyes. This happens at an increased rate when I don't get enough sleep. Why is it?
