Fortunately, there are few unethical surgeons. The only way you can be absolutely sure your physician is an honest practitioner is to see his/her patients.

It is highly unethical for any surgeon to digitally alter your before or after photographs. A surgeon could put his license and career in jeopardy with unethical sequel digital altering. Make sure you look for a rhinoplasty specialist who has performed thousands of rhinoplasties and look at many of their before and after photos. It is also important to make sure that the surgery center where the procedure is performed is certified by one of the top certifying agencies such as Medicare.... more

How to Find an Ethical Rhinoplasty Specialilst

Any surgeon who is board-certified by a number of board certification organizations would most likely be ethical.  Please talk to your surgeon and his previous patients to get a sense of his integrity and commitment to excellence. There are no sure ways to completely avoid risks. However, you can increase your chance of success by selecting your surgeon carefully. Hope this was helpful. Dr. Sajjadian

You may never find exactly what you want.

Ethical plastic surgeons are usually members of the American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the American Society of Aesthetic Surgery. The surgeon should fully describe what they can do and what you should expect and spend time with you. Good rhinoplastic surgeons do not touch up photos and even the best surgeon can have to do a minor touch up later. Avoid doctors who rush you into surgery and who do not explain what can happen. Good luck.

Ethical Rhinoplasty Specialist

Hi, What your suggesting is illegal and the surgeon would be liable with professional and civic litigation. So Im not sure any surgeon would chance that. The best way to find a rhinoplasty surgeon is to do online research, meet the surgeon and speak to one or two of their patients. Remember, even the "best" rhinoplasty surgeons will have complications. Best, Dr.S.

Ethical rhinoplasty specialist.

Since dishonest surgeons can steal results or alter them, you should meet with real LIVE patients the doctor has done. Good surgeons who do many rhinoplasties have patients in the office and will allow you to meet with them.

Choosing an Ethnical Rhinoplasty Surgeon

Hi Roysford, Excellent that you are taking your time and choosing your rhinoplasty specialist most carefully.  There have been cases that I am aware of both here in Los Angeles as well as in New York City where photos have been altered.  There is no way of absolutely knowing.  Ask your surgeon what she/he thinks of the saying, "What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?"  Fortunately the vast majority of rhinoplasty... more

Ethics and medicine - You are correct that doctors are human, and not all have the same ethical standards in marketing.  It is reasonable to assume that what holds true for marketing applies to patient care.  In plastic surgery, the professional societies (ASPS, ASAPS, ISAPS) make significant efforts to screen the marketing ethics of potential members prior to allowing membership.  Confirm that your surgeons of choice are members of some of these organizations so you would... more

Looking for the best and most ethical plastic surgeon when undergoing cosmetic surgery

Generally, any surgeon who has the credentials you mention is evaluated by other practitioners and has gone through multiple hoops to achieve their status. Furthermore, they must maintain this practice in order to maintain their certification. Ask to speak with former patients or better yet seek them out on your own to allay your suspicions. Ultimately all surgery carries risk and even seeking out the "best surgeon" does not guarantee you of avoidng these risk, only minimizing... more
