Will anti-inflammatories hinder collagen production caused by Sculptra?
Answer: Anti-inflammatory Supplements Do Not Affect Sculptra Results While an interesting theoretical consideration, there is no practical evidence that anti-inflammatory supplements like tumeric have any practical effect on collagen production after sculptra injection. In our practice, we have not found evidence for any noninvasive treatments speeding up or increasing the volume production of collagen after sculptra treatment.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Anti-inflammatories should not affect Sculptra Thank you for your question. You should be able to continue your anti-inflammatory medications and still do your Sculptra treatments. I would caution that some anti-inflammatory medications also thin your blood so may increase your risk of bruising should you take the medications in the days leading to your Sculptra treatment.

Answer: Sculptra and Antiinflammatory Medications There is no evidence that antinflammatory medications hinder collagen production from Sculptra injections, there is evidence however that fractional laser and radiofrequency treatments after Sculptra do improve the results. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: This hasn't been studied, but probably wouldn't have an effect on your treatment The cosmetic results of your Sculptra treatments probably won't be significantly affected by use of anti-inflammatory supplements like turmeric. Although this has not been studied, the stimulation of new collagen formation in the areas treated with Sculptra will probably be unaffected. Most importantly, I would follow your Dermatologist's post-treatment care plan to ensure best results.

Answer: Be careful of blood thinning anti-inflammatories In order to mimimize potential bruising, avoid the following products 7 days prior to treatment and for up to 7 days after treatment: Alcohol, Aspirin, Vitamin E, anticoagulants such as Plavix, Coumadin, Fish Oil, St. John's Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginger, Garlic, Feverfew or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory products such as Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) or Naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn). If bruising is persistent or you are worried, set up a follow up appointment with your dermatologist.Otherwise there is no evidence that anti-inflammatory supplements have any practical effect on collagen production after sculptra injection. These are advanced techniques so be sure to get an experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon consultation for recommendations and treatment options.
