Effective Treatment for Dark Underarms?

I have bilateral under arm darkening and was wondering what treatments I could try.

My doctor feels that this is not acanthosis nigricans (has ruled out diabetes, PCOS and GI tumor) but thinks it is due to friction over the years.

I have tried Chemical peels briefly and Hydroquinone with no noticeable improvement.
