How Effective is Daily Sun Protection in Aging?

I have been wearing sunblock since the age of 18 and avoiding the sun (for the most part). I still look older than my peers who do not protect themselves. Is wearing sunblock everyday, rain or shine, using retin-a, and using an umbrella on sunny days (I live in Florida), really going to make a difference in my skin?
