Facelifts vs Non-surgical Facial Rejuvenation

Non-surgical facial rejuvenation will never provide the same results as a facelift in most patients. Some patients select non surgical techniques because it is less expensive and easier for them. The duration of improvement with this approach is far less and therefore will ultimately cost more. I'm not aware of any experienced surgeons who raise their fees annually. Financing is available in most clinics.

Are facelifts becoming less expensive?

I don't think facelifts will become less expensive. Facelifts, when done well, are technically demanding and there is very little room for error. Surgeons who specialize in facelift surgery take great pride in their work andgenerally feel as though excellent results can justify the price. Just as anything else though it will always be a bit subject to supply and demand especially in certain markets. Word of advise: beware of the cheap facelift. And remember - if it's seems too good... more

Cut rate facelifts vs non surgical alternatives.

The costs of Botox and non invasive fillers over a three year period would , in many cases cost more and do less than a facelift. Yes, we are probably doing less facelifts because of the perceived alternative offered by these non surgical approaches marketed as alternatives rather than supplements to the result of a facelift. Almost all practices these days offers financing. To get costs down further , one has to compromise principles, techniques, quality, comfort and safety. Rapidly... more

Non surgical enhancements vs. facelifts

Many people these days are definitely interested in non-surgical procedures. But, that has not reduced the demand for facial surgery. The best plastic surgeons are still busy in this contracting economy, and they are not discounting their fees. At the same time, the most expensive surgeon is not necessarily the most talented, so as a consumer you still have to research this carefully. There is much more to consider than just the price in dollars that you pay: is your surgeon... more

Several factors influence facelift costs

Very interesting question. As with any procedure that is offered to patients on an elective basis, there are several factors that will influence the price of a facelift: 1. The technique used : more invasive facelifts (composite facelifts, deep plane facelifts) require more technical expertise and cost of care (anesthesia costs, recovery room, number of office visits, etc). Less invasive or modified facelifts (short scar facelifts, S Lifts, etc.) do not require as much surgical time... more

Expensive

Facelift costs are subject to the laws of economics as everything else is. There are more skilled surgeons more discount chains and more attempted substitution procedures. C hose your surgeon on quality not coat. It is your only face.

Facelift costs--why are they so expensive?

You raise some very good points, since all of the non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques and modalities can provide some degree of improvement, as long as patients realize that these are ADJUNCTS, not replacements for properly-performed facelifts. And of course, facelifts often include forehead lifts, eyelid surgery, and neck surgery, so these costs need to be considered as well. A facelift is not always "just" a facelift! Then there are the short-incision,... more

The cost of a facelift

I think the average cost of a "facelift' may be declining because the market is being flooded on the supply side by with low quality high volume product. In my opinion facelifing is an art form and the quality of the result should be the focus. Ask yourself, would you look for inexpenseive coronary artery bypass surgyery.

Facelift fees

All the non-surgical facial rejuvenation options offer an improved result, less down time, less cost, and less longevity, or permanence, than surgery. You can certainly be maintained without surgery for some time using these modalities. However, there comes a time, which is different for all of us due to genetics, habits, and sun damage, when anything short of a facelift will not improve the baggy jowls, lowered cheek pad, and loose neck skin. My practice has seen an... more

Are Facelifts Becoming Less Expensive Because of a Rise In Non-Surgical Facelifts?

The majority of your question is great. Non surgical FLs are here to stay. Whether fillers (like the Liquid Face Lift), fat grafts, Botox injections are used. Or Lasers, peels, Fraxel, IPL, radio frequency, Thermage all are non surgery. Results at best a minimal and very temporary and are best as a "beginning point" in the facial rejuvenation search. Or used in combination with incisional lifts. For incisional lifts there are a multitude of personal named or techniques named... more

Facelifts and nonsurgical treatments have different results

A facelift does several things that nonsugical treatments such as Botox injections, Juvederm, Fraxel laser, and others do not, and vice-versa. Basically, a facelift is a 3-dimensional reshaping of the face to more youthful proportions, which involves a lot more than tightening skin or smoothing out wrinkles. The good news is that recovery time is faster than it used to be and results more natural; bad news it is still on the expensive side. That is because the training and expertise required... more

Facelifts vs. Non Surgical Options

Non Surgical facial rejuvenation is not a substitute for a facelift. They are an option as some patients are deferring the surgical option until their financial situation improves. Financing is beginning to become easier again especially through companies such as CareCredit.

Cost of face lift

One of the main factors is that you have to make sure you are comparing apples with apples. For example if a 60 year old woman goes to an experienced face lift surgeon she may receive a shocking face lift estimate of $25-30k but this will include: Brow lift Eyelid lift Facial fat grafting to multiple regions Deep plane face lift Neck lift with platysmaplasty The same woman may go to one of the face lift Mills that advertise on TV and may get a price quote for $5k for a... more

Facelift - Are Facelifts Becoming Less Expensive Because of a Rise In Non-Surgical Facelifts?

Not necessarily - prices for surgical procedures vary tremendously from region to region and even withing a given region, and depending on many factors. But I don't believe that the rise of injectable treatments is one of those. These treatments are very good and effective but they don't replace the procedures; if anything, they enhance them. They may be done instead of the surgery (many reasons for this) but they do not do the same thing and should not really be... more

Facelift Cost

I do not find any change in the demand or cost of a facelift. I believe this is because there is only so much that non-surgical procedures can realistically improve. No matter what, patients will desires correction of signicant skin excess of the neck and jawline, which will only be adequately corrected by surgery. I think non-surgical procedures are wonderful for patients with early signs of facial aging or as an adjunct to facelift surgery, but not a... more

Are Facelifts Becoming Less Expensive Due to Non-Surgical Facelifts? No

The observations made about the explosion in newer non-surgical techniques is very valid. However, the fact remains that there is no minimally invasive technique, or combination of minimally invasive techniques that approximates the result of a well performed Facelift. In fact, given the aging changes that lead to Facelift indications, it is unlikely there will be any procedure to replace Facelift until/unless gene therapy is implemented (Pandora's Box). Although facial... more

Cost of facelifts

Your question illustrates a problem that currently exists for many in the public regarding it's perceptiion of plastic surgery. This problem which has in part been brought on by surgeon's own marketing efforts is that a facelift is a generic, manufactured service that is the same everywhere, can be retooled like a plastic toy with cheaper cost and packaging to respond to market demand. The cost of operating room time and personnel and supplies in an accreditied facility, anesthesia... more

Cost of facelift surgery

Let me approach this another way. I trained 12 years after 4 years of college. Many of us are "double boarded" plastic surgeons. Todays facelift has little relation to what we did 30, 20....or even 5 years ago. technic continues to evolve. The market is now flooded with non surgeons doing "facelifts", some with little of no training. people fly to south america for "cheap" facelifts. all of this affects the market. you will have no problem finding someone who... more

Well done facelifts continue to be very labor intensive.

Dear Belledajour The Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Company displays the following quote: "There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person's lawful prey." There is unfortunately an enormous difference between a mediocre facelift and an artfully performed facelift. The top facelift surgeons are arts. They command a high fee and this will always be... more
