Post otoplasty pain

Otoplasty, which involves the musculature, can be uncomfortable but the pain usually begins to reduce after the first 48 hours. Bolsters to protect the ears are desirable. Prescription pain medication is available. I find that my otoplasty patients are extremely motivated and handle any postop pain with tremendous grace and positive attitude.

Pain after Otoplasty surgery

Some discomfort is normal after otoplasty surgery (average 1 week or so). I would not recommend putting any pressure on the ear (sleeping on it). I also recommend to my patients to wear a headband for protection. Follow up with your surgeon regarding your recovery process.
