I have a 19yo hypertrophic thyroidectomy scar that is flat following silicone sheets but pink with thin brown margins. I saw a plastic surgeon who recommended I try "dual yellow laser" to reduce redness. He said there was no risk of making things worse. I am of Chinese descent. His nurse (who does the actual Rx) said she would use a low setting with multiple Rx's spread about 1 month apart. She said hyperpigmentation was a risk in Chinese. If hyperpigmentation occurred would it be permanent?
