My new veneers are 3 weeks old, they look fabulous! I talk all day in my job my mouth gets super dry then then I can't pronounce, I feel like Im spitting from the sides of the veneers , feeling of having laryngitis, my tongue is also tired. and my voice is very croaky. My dentist has adjusted them 2 times , Could it be I need to give it more time? or is it because my lip needs lowering, I do have a feeling of it rising at the sides when talking, or maybe they need thinning?
Answer: Dryness and speech issues with veneers? Based on your description, I would recommend that you give yourself a few months before attempting to have your veneers altered anymore. The dryness is likely related to your constant speaking and lack of adequate hydration. I would suggest carrying a water bottle with you each day at work and taking sips as you speak or present. The dryness of your mouth could be causing your lips to stick to your teeth more and cause speech issues. I have seated thousands of veneers and better hydration has solved this issue for my patients, whenever it has arisen. Good luck and I hope this helps. Answer: Dryness and hiss sound speech problems after veneers, I had the front four teeth done, pronouncing and speaking is hard work. Yes, I would agree to give things more time to settle in and for you to get used to your new porcelain veneers. The fact that you feel they look fabulous is a great testament to your dentist and his/her ceramist....that they did a great job for you.If you have having trouble with speech, then it might be that the veneers are a tiny bit too long, or else that they are too thick on the back side and bumping into your lower front teeth when you say certain sounds. These two things can usually be adjusted and corrected by your cosmetic dentist. One other thing...adaption is something this is different for all people. Many adapt very rapidly to veneers, braces, retainers and dentures, while others take longer. It is an individual thing. However, most all people get used to them with time, if properly done.Remember President Reagan, one of the most famous orators of his time. And he had dentures!

Answer: Problems with veneers Yes it does sound that veneers are too long and too bulky. You could have them adjusted if possible else you will need new ones. Normally we would try temporary veneers for the best aesthetic and function (speech, smile, eating etc.) and then copy them into final.

Answer: Brite Speech can be significantly effected by the position of your veneers. It can take time to get used to new veneers but if the problems continue it would be best to have a talk with your dentist. Typically if your uppers touch your lower teeth when you speak word like Mississippi you will tend to prevent that from happening which can result in lisping and even spitting. Your dentist needs to adjust the length until this goes away. Thickness is more difficult to adjust. That may take some time to get used to. Good Luck!
