In my surgical youth, I was once told in response to one of my many question that all of Medicine could be divided into 3 parts: - 15% FACT (True today, true tomorrow and science based) - 15% - FALSE ((we are doing something that is either false or will eventually be proven false) - 70% - FETISH - doctors often do things which may not be factually based but are done purely because of habit. They ALWAYS done something the same way, they feel it has worked for them, so why change?
