Hello Dr's. My current PS refuses to do HP implants because she says they look fake and torpedo like. I'm very slender and tall. My stats are: 5'7.5 118lbs BWD:11.5cm ribcage:28in I did state that I wanted more projection and tried on mod+350 and 375. The nurse let me try on HP 375 before I saw the Dr. and I really liked the look of those. My question to you would be, am a good candidate for HP implants? I don't want to be denied the opportunity if I am, and my Dr. doesn't do them anymore.

High Profile Implants

Hello Owl 1, High profile implants are becoming more popular as of recent times. They are being used commonly for people who want a lot of projection from their breasts, a 'round' look, or because they need a lot of volume in a smaller space. I was quite enamored with high profile implants early in my career, but have trended away from their usage for a number of reasons, none of which have to do with appearance. In general, breast augmentation will cause changes... more

Get another opinion

I suggest that you get another opinion . It sounds like the HP implants would be perfect for you. Good Luck. Dr Grant Stevens.

High profile breast implants

Thank you for your question. Many plastic surgeons, including myself, use the high profile breast implants. I also use the more moderate projections as well. It depends on the look the patient is going for and the measurements. The most important determining factor in deciding is the breast width diameter. If a women wants a larger implant but has a narrow base diameter, then I will recommend the high profile implant in order to get the volume and projection without going... more

High profile breast implants

Obviously from the answers there is a lot of confusion about sizing and the use of high profile implants. My opinion is similar to that of Dr. Baxter except you start with the base width of your breast upright and with your arms down. This can be easily measured. This determines how wide the implant diameter can be. Your choice is the forward profile ranging from low to high with a gain of about a cup size with a low profile, cup-and-a-half with a medium profile, and 2 cup sizes with a high... more

You should be given options to achieve your expected outcome

Every patient has a different opinion about ultimately what they would like their final results to look like. You should be given the oppurtunity to decide with your Plastic Surgeon what implants would be best for you based on what you would like the final outcome to be. If you are not communicating well with you PS you may consider a second opinion.

High Profile ? Why Not?

The most improtant factor for you is the uneasiness with your consult and your chosen surgeon "holding something back" perception. Most experienced plastic surgeons know intuitively that all style implants make US better able to customize your desired look. A surgeon who does not necessarily feel that it would be your best choice is different than a surgeon who flat wont use that style implant. It may be that in his or her opinion it is not a good choice for your body type. I... more

High profile implants

I am a big fan of the high profile implants and use them probably in about 80-90% of patients that I see. Most of my patients are very narrow and want the prrojection. Go see another surgeon if you are unhappy.

Dr. Refuses to Do High Profile Breast Implants

High Profile SALINE implants not only differ between the Natrelle and Mentor lines but are VERY different from the HP silicone gel implants. Moreover, the height or "profile" of the implant should be one in SEVERAL considerations you and your surgeon need to go through; The most important being picking an implant that can be completely covered by your present breast tissue. Having a narrower base, the way HP breast implants do, allows these implants to be placed on the flat portion... more

High profile implants

Generally speaking high profile implants can work very well, especially if silicone gel. The decision regarding implant projection should be based on the desired look you would like and your anatomy. This requires a complete examination to determine measurements and tissue quality. If yo are not comfortable with your plastic surgeon, then by all means get a second opinion.

Another opinion

Short answer- Yes. It is likely that your surgeon is experienced- however every patient is an individual; and your individual anatomy and needs may not be the same as others patients that may have had poor aesthetic outcomes with high profile implants in your doctor's practice.

Dr. Refuses to Do HP Implants... Should I Be Getting 2nd Opinion?

Absolutely obtain additional opinions. I primarily use HP implants so I do not understand your chosen surgeon's refusal to use them. If you can not understand the reasoning than maybe you should look for another surgeon. Both of you need to be on the same page.

High profile implants give you more projection and less spread into the arm pit area

For years I allow my patients to choose the profile of their implants but I usually recommend the high profile and almost all ways the paitents decide to have the high profile implants. These high profile implants have given my patients a very good result with good projection and extremly happy patients. If your surgeon refuses to offer you what you really want then I would see a second board certifed experienced plastic surgeon. You should also be permited to chose the size of your... more

How to pick the right breast implant profile

High profile implants do have a place, but the implant profile is the last step in the decision process. First is measurements of base diameter of the breast, which determines the maximum diameter of the implant that can be used. Next choose the size (volume) desired; there are different ways to do this. Once that is known, the implant profile of the desired size and the optimal diameter is selected. For a base width of 11.5 cm and a desired size in the range of 350 cc, a high profile is... more

High profile implants are not for everybody

Anyone can have high profile implants if they want them, and you should get a second opinion if your mind is made up. You cannot 'try on' breast implants in a bra and know what they will feel like and look like after your procedure. Also, keep in mind that high profile implants are a 'new' trend, and may run a course as enthusiasm for them wains. If you like the firm round and projecting look, and can lay on your stomach with them, someone will put them in you, but consider... more

HP breast implants

Frankly, I used to talk down the HP implants but once I started using them in the right patients, the results were not nearly as unnatural as I was concerned they would be. Examples are on my web site too. But it depends on your starting point and also on what HP implant you are talking about. The Mentor HP gel is actually about the profile of their mod plus saline so it really isn't that big. I have never yet had one of these patients want to downsize either. But... more

Breast augmentation, high profile vs. moderate profile implants

It is always a good idea to get a second opinion if you want confirmation of a previous opinion that another Plastic Surgeon has expressed. Perhaps the opinion is correct, but with a desire to have more projection with an implant with a thin or narrow frame might suggest that high profile implants are very suitable for you. Please get several opinions, and trust your experts who have examined you to give you the best opinion. Good luck.

Breast implant sizing/type?

Thank you for the question. I think the most important decision you make (when you have decided to proceed with breast augmentation surgery) is choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon whom you trust and can communicate with. Once you develop this trust and communicate your goals clearly with your plastic surgeon the specifics of the operation (including the implant model) can be decided upon. You will find that each plastic surgeon has his/her preferences so you need to... more

High Profile implants are an excellent choice!

HIGH PROFILE IMPLANTS are an excellent choice in the right patient. High profile implants have more projection and a narrow base diameter than low or moderate profile implants. If you have a narrow chest, high profile implants are probably the best choice. If you have a wide chest, high profile implants are a poor choice. Moderate profile implants will give more cleavage and superior fullness, a characteristic that most women desire. Have your PS explain to you... more
