Doomed to Have Bad Scar After Brow Lift? (photo)

Had a direct brow lift procedure first in 2010 and the left incision healed nice, the right scar was quite a bit wider than the left. In 2011 I had the brows lifted a little higher with a different physician, and while the left incision has not gotten very wide(about 1 - 1.5mm at most) the right was again wider, with a width of around 2.5-3.5mm (4mo post op). I've contemplated having revision, but I feel it will turn out the same way. Is there anything can really be done, or should I accept it?

Scar Secondary to Direct Brow Lift

Your experience is the reason I have never done a direct brow lift, but I have revised many of these. I cannot explain why you have experienced such frustration trying to improve the scars, but I would try to revise the scars again. They will always be present, but if they are reduced they can be hidden by hair transplantation with micrografts.

Direct browlift scar

At this point, consider a scar revision, Botox injection to minimize movement, postop silicone scar gel. This is the reason I refuse to do a direct browlift. Midforehead browlifts heal so much nicer.

Direct brow lift scar

Tension on an incision can lead to increase width of the scar over the course of the healing process. There is some discrepancy in the appearance of your scars. However, only your operating surgeon can give you an accurate answer regarding what was done. It would seem possible that a scar revision in conjunction with Botox should produce a more appealing scar. Best of luck, Vincent Marin, MD San Diego Plastic Surgeon

Pulse dye laser tx or Botox w/ scar revision

This is an area that can be prone to hypertrophic or widened scars because it is constantly moving. While a surgeon would have to evaluate the scar to see if there was enough laxity for revision, if a scar revision was considered, treatment of the area with Botox pre-operatively would help to prevent the area from moving, while the healing process is occurring. Also, you could also consider laser treatments with a pulse dye laser (ex. Candela Perfecta V-Beam) to remove the redness... more
