Tri-Luma can be very effective

KJ, Yes, Tri-Luma can be very effective at lightening the skin. The active ingredient in Tri-Luma which helps lighten the skin is Hydroquinone. This works by inhibiting production of melanin. The other ingredients in Tri-Luma include Retin-A and Steroids. All three ingredients can be purchased separately, Tri-Luma just makes it more convenient to have in one cream. I hope you found this helpful. David Shafer, MD New York City
