Smartlipo is a small laser, not a liposuction

The liposuction will remove the annoying little fat cells, and the smartlipo will tighten the skin and reduce sagging. They work very well together as a team in the chin/neck area.

Traditional Liposuction After Smartlipo

+1

Smartlipo can provide a pretreatment but may not provide the degree of improvement that some surgeons seek by itself. Therefore, traditional liposuction can be utilized to treat the remaining spots.

Smartlipo Fat Reduction Requires Fat Aspiration

+1

All liposuction procedures, regardless of technique, require the aspiration of fat. Smartlipo does a pretreatment of the fat by a heating method but still requires suction removal of fat to complete the procedure. Any Smartlipo fat treatment in which fat aspiration is not done is sure to end up with either no observable results or very minimal improvement.

Smartlipo and traditional cannulas

The traditional cannulas are used to aspirate the melted fat.  I prefer to just use traditional liposuction because I do not think Smartlipo offers andy advantage.

Clarifying the Smart Lipo treatment

+1

I would just like to clarify the smart lipo treatment.  First, the fat is infiltrated with an anesthetic solution.  Once numb, the smart lipo laser is used to help melt the fat and break up fibrous fat tissue.  Finally, a small instrument (cannula) is used to extract the melted fat and debri.  That last part of the smart lipo treatment is the same as traditional liposuction.  However, because the fat is melted and the fibrous tissue is broken up, we can use much smaller instruments and extract more fat and tissue from the area.  So, most doctors that use smart lipo are actually performing traditional lipo as the final step in the process.

Smart lipo is more about marketing than anything else.

+1

Let's face it, lasers sound sexy.  Is laser liposuction any better than traditional tumescent liposuction with microcannulas?  No there is not.  Liposuction is a sculpting method.  The artful sense of volume is much more important that precisely the method used.  Having said that, microcannulas provide a very effective mean to perform a very precise liposuction.  Liposuction is performed by surgeons not liposuction machines.  So no matter how sexy the method sounds in marketing materials, it is the surgeon that makes the difference.
