Weakness in Upper Lip Due to Buccal Fat Pad Dissection?

The Plastic Surgeon searched for the buccal fat pads but no discernable fat pad was found on either side of the face. Blunt dissection was done in this procedure. The incisions were simply closed.

Since this procedure there is some weakness in the upper lip. Could this be a result of searching for the pads? Will this eventually resolve? It's been over a year since this was done along with a rhinoplasty and chin implant. I greatly appreciate your response.

Upper lip weakness after buccal fat pad dissection

Some type of stretching or cutting of the buccal branch of the facial nerve may have occurred during the dissection to remove fat. If it has been a year since the procedure was performed, there is little chance of it coming back and is likely to be a permanent situation.
