My daughter had silicone implants 8 months ago and this morning, she was crouching down and she felt something move. One of her breast now feels and looks funny shaped compared to the other one, could one have slipped or turned?

Implant Site
I would suggest your daughter be seen by her surgeon to determine what the problem is, sooner rather than later. I'm assuming your daughter's surgeon is a board certified plastic surgeon, If so, he or she will most likely be able to tell your daughter what happened and what can be done to resolve the issue. While it sounds like the implant has shifted, I'd want my patient to call me as soon as something like this happens and we'll do what we can to see her as soon as possible if for no...

Implant displacement possible
It would be helpful to know what type of implants you have. I have seen a few cases where the shaped implants (Alelrgan 410, Mentor CPG) have rotated so that the "teardrop" shape is oriented sideways. Or if it is a round implant, a tear in the scar capsule can change the breast somewhat. There would probably be more pain and swelling with this. Both of these things are quite uncommon though.

Shifting seas
Deboragh,
Indeed, your daughter's implant may have shifted or rotated. If she has anatomic or tear drop shaped implants, a rotation of the implant would cause a change in the appearance of the breast. If they are round, a change in appearance is less likely. At any rate, a visit to operating surgeon should shed some light on the subject. Good luck!

She needs an examination
It is hard to tell from your description, but it is possible for the implants to displace. It is best for her to return to her surgeon for an examination. There is not immediate lift-threatening issue, but she may need an operation to restore symmetry to her implants. Good luck.

Possible
There are differently shaed imlants and the "anatomical" or tear drop shaped type may have rotated. onversely, the pocket may have a problem, or a capsular contracture may be developing.
The good news is that there isn't a health or life threatening problem. It should be evaluated, and if it bothers her, a plan developed at a convenient time.

Implant displacement is possible and she should be seen right away
Hi there-
It is absolutely possible for things to happen with certain movements that cause implants to shift or rotate... Most often, with round implants, this does not produce a visible change in the breast. If the implants have a visibly different appearance after this event, I would be concerned that she either has shaped (anatomic) implants, or that something else other than the implant moving is going on... Either way she should call her surgeon and be seen right away.
