Tumescent liposuctioning ia a term to define a technique that fills the area to be treated with a large amount of fluid with local anesthetic and epinephrine. The result is that there is numbness and less blood loss. The type of actual liposuctioning can be traditional, laser(like lipolite), ultrasonic or power assisted.

LipoLite vs. Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent Liposuction referes to the use of a lot of fluid during liposuction. Until its introduction (late 80s or early 90s?), liposuction was done 'dry", ie, minimal infiltration of the tissues to be treated with fluid. It was noted and has been proven that using a lot of fluid - providing tumescence to the tissues to be treated- decreased blood loss and improved results with liposuction.
