Benelli vs. Donut Lift and Areola Reduction?

I would like a Breast lift and Areola reduction. I am scared of getting Breast implants and have no intention of getting Breast Augmentation. What is the difference between a Benelli/Donut lift and Areola reduction? Are they one and the same? Is the cost different? I am a C cup & really interested in an areola reduction because it is inexpensive and also lifts. Thanks.

Benelli or Donut lift versus areolar reduction.

The incisions used for a Benelli or Donut lift are the same incisions that are used for an areolar reduction. This incision is called circumareolar.

Benelli lift or doughnut lift for breast lift

A word of caution: many surgeons perform what they call a 'circumareolar' (or 'donut' or 'Benelli' ) mastopexy. In my opinion there is absolutely no such thing as a 'circumareolar mastopexy'. Removing skin around the areola may enable a surgeon to elevate the position of the nipple/areola complex perhaps 1-2 cm on the breast mound, but it DOES NOT lift the breast itself. In most cases, unfortunately, it serves to distort the shape of the breasts, making them appear flattened at the top. If... more

New option for women wanting breast lift without implants or a vertical scar

Hi, Great question! My colleagues are correct. The differences are minimal, but essentially the same. The Benelli lift does not and cannot permanently lift low lying breast tissue. It only provides minimal lift by pulling the nipple/areola up. Hopefully, you would be a candidate for this procedure. If, however, you have a significant amount of ptosis (sagginess) the Benelli will not give you an adequate lift. There is another option if you do not desire implants or do not want visible... more

Benelli Lift versus Areola Reduction?

Thank you for the question. The Benelli breast lift involves an incisions around the areola (that allow for skin excision more so above the areola then below the areola); the difference in the amount of skin excised above and below the areola is what allows for the breast lifting to occur. Keep in mind, that this operation is indicated only for patients who require relatively minor upward movement of the nipple/areola complexes. Areola reduction on the other... more

Benelli lift or donut lift

A Benelli lift is a formal breast lift with an incision only around the areola.  A donut lift or circumareola lift usually just means lifting the areola without the formal breast molding.

Benelli Lift = Donut lift - both have incisions SIMILAR to Areola reduction

The difference is semantics. Allow me to explain. AREOLAR (aka Bulls Eye) REDUCTION - two exactly CONncentric circles are drawn around your nipple. The inner circle radius will be the intended future radius of the smaller areola, the larger outer circle is placed at the junction of the areola and lighter breast skin. The areola skin donut between them is removed and the outer circle is stitched to the inner. The result - a new, reduced areola. Benelli Lift / Mastopexy = Donut lift /... more

Are Benelli and Areolar reduction Breast Lifts the same thing?

Hi there- Your question raises many important issues. First of all, and to directly answer it- there is no difference you will perceive between the two breast lift techniques you mention (as I imagine you are referring to a circumareolar breast lift when you say "areolar reduction"). The techniques are a bit different with regard to details important to the surgeon, but as far as what you would see, there are none. Both will reduce your areola (but ANY breast lift technique would)... more

Breast Lift and Areola Reduction

Almost all Breast Lifts include an Areola Reduction. A breast lift removing a donut like area around the areola is known by circumareolar mastopexy, donut mastopexy, Benelli lift and several other names. There are various modifications to improve lift and appearance, but they are all essentially similar. The amount of skin removed and whether the donut is symmetric or not determines the final appearance of the breast. The problem with this lift is that it cannot provide significant lift.... more

Breast Lift-Donut Mastopexy

A donut mastopexy, benelli and periareolar mastopexy are pretty much the same. Areola reduction has the similiar incision that a benelli has, but it just reduces the size of the areola. A mastopexy involves lifting the NAC to a desirable level. The periareolar lift is not a very powerful lift and is most commonly performed with an implant. If you have breast ptosis or breast drooping, you may need more than a periareolar mastopexy. You should see a board certified plastic surgeon to... more

No difference between a Benelli or Donut lift and areola reduction

The easy answer is NOTHING. They can all mean the same thing. Go see 3 boarded plastic surgeons to discuss these terms in detail, but you will see there are synomynous. Regards.

Procedures and techniques for breast enhancement

Like many patients, I think you have made conclusions about your surgery based on names of procedures and not on what techniques are required to give you the desired result. The best way to determine your treatment is to anatomically analyse your situation and the methods to achieve what will make you happy. The anatomical and surgical manipulations can be categorized to some extent by the names with apply to these techniques and proceudres, but the important thing is the anatomical changes... more

Benelli breast lift - theme and variations

Your question has two parts. First, the general term that plastic surgeons use for the Benelli lift is peri-areolar mastopexy. It involves removal of a donut-shaped area of skin around the areola, with the outer edge of the circle closed down to the inner edge. This can be done to lift the breast, reduce the diameter of the areola, or both. They are all basically the same thing, with the idea being that the scar is a circle at the border between the darker skin of the aroela and the skin... more

Breast Lift vs Augmentation

One point patients frequently misunderstand is that a lift is essentially a way to move your nipple to the correct location while an augmentation is to increase the size of your breast. Expecting one surgery to do the job of the other frequently leads to disappointment. I could see a rare patient who would just want an areolar reduction but, as stated the amount of lift would be minimal.

Breast lifts without implants

I am afraid you have some of this confused. Breast implants and breast augmentation are one and the same thing. Also a periareolar / or dount / or Benelli mastopexy is essentially universally done WITH an implant augmentation simultaneously. This is because the periareolar incision doesn't remove much skin and really doesn't lift the breast very much at all. Without a vertical scar the breast shape cannot be improved. As rare as it is, I actually have a patient to do in 4 days for this... more
