Tummy Tuck or Liposuction alone?

Hi. The picture is not very clear. But given that you are done with child-bearing, don't have good skin tone, and you may have loose skin and muscle, you may be best served by a tummy- tuck procedure.  Good Luck

Tummy tuck or Liposuction?

Thank you for the question picture. Based on your history and picture I think you will be best served with the tummy tuck procedure. this procedure will serve to “tighten up” the abdominal wall muscles that have spread with pregnancy and remove excess skin and adipose tissue of the abdominal wall. You may also hear about “mini tummy tuck” surgery so few words of advice may be in order. However, a few general words of caution may be helpful in... more

Liposuction versus Tummy Tuck

From the limited view above, it looks like you have good skin tone without a significant amount of excess skin.  I would therefore recommend liposuction alone based on this picture.  See your local plastic surgeon for full consultation and exam.  This will provide you with the most accuate opinion.   Best Wishes,   Neil Zemmel, MD

Better pictures please

From the limited view, I would recommend tummy tuck and liposuction. With you standing, you have role of skin which is a good indication for the tummy tuck. Please send more view and better quality pictures

Tommy tuck or liposuction

The picture shows that you have excess skin but the skin has good quality. I would say it depends on what kind of results you are looking for. A tummy tucks which in your case should be combined with liposuction.(lipoabdominoplasty) will eliminate the excess skin and fat. It will provide you with t tightness of the abdominal wall and you will not have folding of the skin even in the sitting position. With liposuction you will eliminate the excess fat but you may feel some irregularities... more

Tummy tuck is best if need muscle repair

Hi Sieze, Wow, you have two questions recently.  Anyway, as you can tell from the answers, it is not clear from the photo which is best for you.  In general, I find that after pregnancy, a tummy tuck works best.  There are very few people who do not have skin excess and most patients are happy when this excess skin is removed.  Liposuction will not do that.  Tummy tuck also allows correction of the muscle separation that usually occurs after pregnancy. ... more

Tummy tuck or liposuction for abdomen?

I wish you had provided side views of your abdomen as well. From the photo you have submitted, I do not see significant amount of hanging skin. It really depends on your expectations:  If you like to look like an 18 year old in a bikini, then a tummy tuck will remove any loose skin and your abdominal muscles will be tightened, giving you a flatter stomach.  If your goal is to reduce the bulk and thickness of the fat, then liposuction may be an option. You have to be... more

Liposuction of abdomen can tighten skin.

Hi. Picture not very clear, but it looks like you will do well with good liposuction alone.  Much easier recovery and no scar.

It looks like you would do well with either

Sieze, From the photo you posted, it looks as if you have good skin elasticity and would do very well with a liposuction alone.  Of course, a tummy tuck, being a more invasive and extensive operation would give you a more complete result because it addresses all of the components of the abdomen, skin, muscle, and fat.  In general, the more invasive you get, the more dramatic the results, the higher the risks and the greater the expense and recovery.  So, it all... more

Odds are you need a tummy tuck

Obviously, you need to be examined to give you the final answer -- but after doing this for over 30 years, most women who have had children have extra skin and stretched muscles, thus a tummy tuck gives the best result. Lipo alone will remove the fat and leave slightly bumpy skin.

Tummy tuck more often better than lipo after childbearing

Pregnancy causes several changes to the abdomen including extra fat accumulation, separation of the muscles, and stretching of the skin. Lipo alone, even with lasers, does not tighten skin so most often the tummy tuck is going to give better results. See a board certified plastic surgeon who can advise you based on an examination.

Tummy Tuck, Liposuction or BOTH

Regarding: "have had two kids. I am confused if to have a full tummy tuck or liposuction. I do not have stretch marks but i have fat hanging on my belly. Will liposuction of the stomach and love handles work for me?" It has been my experience that after two pregnancies the mere removal of fat from under the skin (IE Liposuction) will decrease your size, but would never give you the tight skin, flat tummy and shape made possible by a Tummy Tuck. In my opinion, from the... more

tummy tuck or Lipo

Thanks for the slightly frontal photo, a side view would be even more help. Based ONLY on the 1 photo you could have either Smart Lipo + Lipo or a mini tummy tuck with Smart Lipo of the upper abdomen & hips. Seek in person opinions. From MIAMI Dr. B

Tummy Tuck vs Lipo

I agree that you could probably opt for either procedure from your photo.  In order to have an exam at which time the benefits/risks of each could be discussed with you,  you should arrange for a consultation with a BC plastic surgeon.

Lipo vs tummy tuck - the results are different

You look like you sit on the fence between the two procedures. as do many patients.  You could go either way. While you do not "have to" have a tummy tuck, you do need one if you want the flattest, tightest tummy that you can get.  This is because the TT removes the extra skin rather than asking it to shrink and also tightens the muscle.

Liposuction versus tummy tuck

Commonly after having children, the cause of a full stomach is not necessarily fat but loose skin and muscles. Liposuction treats neither of these. see video

Liposuction vs. tummy tuck

It all depends on what kind of result you want. If you're looking for a slightly slimmer abdomen then liposuction will do the trick. Remember that liposuction requires your skin to contract (which it seems like it will from the picture). It will not contract enough to give you a totally flat abdomen however. A tummy tuck removes fat and skin so the results are much more dramatic. The only way to get a definitive answer to your question is to go in for a consultation with a... more
